Your Own Chains

Regrets, you might have them.
You have regrets because you think about things you could have done or avoided in the past, so you wouldn't be suffering its consequences in the present, yes?
I'm here to remind you that there was a time that you wanted to do those acts in the beginning, right?
Don't beat yourself up about it, regret nothing, you chose to do them in the first place, anyway.
You deserve every consequence of your own actions, but take it as lessons you can learn for the future.
As one would say, an error doesn't become a mistake unless you refuse to correct it. You should always be candid about your errors. Use these learning experiences to guide you for the future. Also, if you tell yourself that you failed, then you have already failed. Otherwise, however, you are still on the road.
It's part of life, isn't it? You're probably old enough to see that life isn't necessarily a bed of roses; because it has its ups and downs. The best way to avoid having to regret something you did, is to indulge yourself in thinking before you act from now on. You make decisions everyday in life, and you should think about its consequences in the long run. You still have your goals in life to accomplish too, right? What? You have goals, don't you? What do you want to be for the rest of your life that will make you truly happy? What do you intend to do being that person? What do you want to be remembered for? It's road of pain and hardship; but it's all actually in the mind. What if all along you're just overreacting about it? What if it's not so tough after all? What if you're just making it hysterically big whereas all along it's just a simple trial for you? What if your emotions are just hindering you from realizing your true potential? And then realize that thinking about it too much it will only make you feel worse and inactive, when you can just plan what you have to do, and act! Isn't that much better? Isn't that better than sitting around whining about it? Even if you're flung into the depths of despair, stand up and climb yourself out, you should work for it and never give up.

We humans have the strength to do that.
However, whether to stand up or not is up to each individual.
Put that in mind, mere spectator.
